After the remarkable success of the Petra Cantare International Choral Festival 2025, Petra Christian University Surabaya is delighted to present the second edition of this vibrant international celebration of choral music.
Inspired by its vision, "To be a world-leading Christian university that transforms society for the glory of God," Petra Christian University continues to nurture music as a powerful force that unites people and uplifts humanity. Through the dedication of the Petra Christian University Choir, Petra Cantare International Choral Festival returns with an even more festive spirit.
This edition welcomes choirs from around the world and features distinguished international jurors, bringing together excellence, inspiration, and friendship within the global choral community.
More than a competition, Petra Cantare is a celebration of music's extraordinary power—to unite differences, build bridges between cultures, and share a message of love, peace, and hope.

About PCU
Petra Christian University (PCU) is where global socioleaders are made and forged in Christian values. PCU Choir
The PCU Choir is a choir from Petra Christian University Surabaya, established in 1989 by the university's then-rector, Drs. Wasis Sastroredjo.
The PCU Choir's vision is to be an inspiring choir that positively influences the development of choral music both in churches and in the wider community. They actively organise themed concerts, including musica sacra, opera, Broadway musicals, and contemporary music, and participate in competitions both domestically and internationally.
Additionally, the PCU Choir excels in choral service in churches, serving as a medium to share the word of God and impart musical knowledge. Alumni of the PCU Choir are expected to become future leaders, singers, and musicians of character.
Achievements
Achievements include 1st Place at the National Pesparawi for Students in 2020, Gold Medal and 9th Place at the National Pesparawi for Students 2023 in Semarang, 2nd Place in the Mixed Choir category at Fespa Ubaya 2023, 2nd Place in the Folklore category, and 1st Place in the Mixed Choir category at Fespa Ubaya 2024.
The choir was also crowned Grand Champion at Fespa Ubaya 2024. Additionally, Onny Prihantono received the Best Conductor award twice consecutively in 2023 and 2024.
Internationally, the first achievement came at the Singapore International Choral Festival 2024, where the choir won 1st Place in two categories, Folklore and Equal Voices, and 2nd Place in the Mixed Choir category.

Venue
The competition will be held in 2 halls: Petra Performance Hall (PPH) and the Auditorium of Q Building, Petra Christian University, Jalan Siwalankerto 121-131, Surabaya, East Java.
Located in Surabaya, Petra Christian University offers a compact festival setting where participants, jurors, and audiences can move easily between the main competition space and the final Grand Prix stage.
Each hall serves a different part of the festival flow, so participants and audiences can immediately understand where the general competition happens and where the final spotlight moves for the grand-prix round.

Hall 02
The hall dedicated to the Grand Prix round and the Awarding Night, becoming the final stage for category winners at Petra Christian University.
All category winners from Petra Cantare! Choral Festival 2027 will participate in the Grand Prix round in Auditorium Q, followed by the official awarding session at the same hall.
