B. General Rules

The following regulations cover eligibility, identity checks, repertoire requirements, logistics, adjudication, awards, and penalties for Petra Cantare! 2027.

1. The participants are amateur choir groups.
2. Choirs are allowed to participate in a maximum of 4 categories that fulfill the requirements.
3. A conductor is only allowed to lead 1 choir group in one category, except for the Early Children Category.
1. Every singer must have a student card, identity card, or passport as proof of identity.
2. If there is any doubt about a singer's age, especially in categories A0, A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2 and C3, age will be checked using the birth certificate.
3. The age limit for each category is calculated as of October 30, 2026.
1. Choir and accompaniment scores must be written in beam notation.
2. Participants must provide original soft copy or authorized scores (PDF) for every category. The committee is not responsible for the use of unauthorized scores regarding copyrights.
3. The committee has the right to reject songs that are not in accordance with the requirements.
1. The committee provides one piano on stage.
2. Musicians are not included in the singer requirements, both in number and age.
3. Additional accompaniment from the participants must be acoustic, not electric, with a maximum of 3 musicians.
4. Using MIDI accompaniment or any recordings is not allowed.
1. The participants' order of performance will be decided by the committee.
2. Each team must provide 1 official or chaperone to coordinate with the Committee's Liaison Officer (LO).
3. There will be no technical meeting. All competition matters will be communicated via email at petracantare@petra.ac.id.
4. The committee will provide 7 minutes of stage rehearsal. The schedule is determined by the committee and cannot be changed.
1. The judges' decisions are absolute and cannot be changed.
2. Participants authorize the committee to publish photographs and videos taken during the competition.

C. Judging Criteria

The jury will evaluate the performances based on the following criteria:

Choirs will be awarded diplomas based on their final score:

D. Prizes and Awards

1. All participating teams will receive a medal and a certificate according to the total score.
2. The Category Champion is awarded to the participant with the highest score in the category, provided the total score is above 80 points.
3. The Champion of Category will receive a trophy, a medal, and certificates.
4. The Grand Prix winner will receive a trophy and a cash prize of IDR 20.000.000,- (approx. USD 1200).

E. Penalty

1. Administrative Penalty
  • Submission of registration documents, including sheet music, past the specified deadline will incur a fine of IDR 200,000. (approx. USD 12).
  • If the fine is not paid by the specified deadline, the participant will be disqualified.
2. Penalty of Score Reduction

Performance duration that is shorter or longer than the specified time will result in a 3-point deduction from the total average score.

3. Disqualification Penalty
  • The number of singers is less or more than the allowed limit.
  • Singers and conductors are involved in more than one group in the same category.
  • Singers violate the specified age rules (specific to categories A0, A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2 and C3).
  • Participants fail to appear on stage after being called 3 consecutive times.
